Founded by a dedicated husband-and-wife team, Omokoroa Pet Vets was established to provide personalised veterinary care in our community.

    Dr Nick Sygrove BSc BVSc

    Director and Veterinary Surgeon

    Dr Nick brings 18 years of veterinary experience and skill from working in Hong Kong, and studying in Australia and China, to serving the pets of Omokoroa and beyond. He has advanced training in veterinary ultrasound and this talent is used for training other vets throughout NZ. Dr Nick is a skilled surgeon and is proficient in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. With our mobile service, his knowledge and compassion an provide the highest quality care all in the comfort of your own home. He is well known for his sense of humour, down-to-earth approach and  warm bedside manner to pets and their owners.

    Dr Raewyn Sygrove BSc BVSc MVM (merit)

    Director and Veterinarian

    Dr Raewyn is passionate about broadening her veterinary knowledge and since graduating in 2007, has engaged in several advanced studies, including completing a Masters of Veterinary Medicine. Raewyn has developed advanced skills in veterinary medicine, radiology, soft tissue surgery and emergency care. Within soft tissue surgery, Dr Raewyn has studied to become proficient in more advanced surgeries including Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome and Thyroidectomy. She is excited to provide exceptional service to the community under Omokoroa Pet Vets.

    Dr Katy Johnston BVSc (dist.)

    Veterinarian

    Dr Katy joined Omokoroa Pet Vets part-time in 2024. She is an experienced small animal veterinarian, graduating in 2017 and adds a new perspective to Omokoroa Pet Vets challenging medical cases. Dr Katy has worked with Dr Raewyn and some of the support staff at previous employment and is a valuable addition to the team. Dr Katy has a special interest in small animal medicine with key areas of interest in haematology, neurology and clinical pathology. Outside of Omokoroa Pet Vets, Katy is kept busy by her young family. They share their rural lifestyle with their cat, dog and assortment of friendly farm animals.

    Caitlin Smillie

    Clinical Operations Manager

    Caitlin is a qualified veterinary nurse graduating in 2018. She shares her life with border collie ‘Anastasia” and a rough collie “Jovi’. She has a special interest in canine behaviour and enrichment. She enjoys spending time with nervous pets to warm them to clinic experiences. Her intuitive nursing skills and excellent customer care are an asset to Omokoroa Pet Vets.

    Jo Blackmun

    Senior Veterinary Nurse

    Jo completed her diploma in veterinary nursing in 2012 from Unitec.
    Her favourite aspects of nursing is anaesthesia as well as hospital care ensuring your pet is well looked after throughout their vet visit. When she's not up at work, you'll find her out and about with her daughter, riding her horses, baking, and enjoying time with friends. At home Jo has a two dogs, a Japanese spitz named Lockhie and a Chihuahua named Goldie.

    Chalice Williamson

    Senior Veterinary Nurse

    Chalice graduated Veterinary Nursing in 2014 and have worked with Dr Nick and Dr Raewyn ever since! She has a special interest in orthopaedics and never pass up a chance to scrub in. Outside of work she spends time kicking it with her fiancé and her two beautiful, extremely energetic young daughters, Piper & Lennox. At home she has two feline foster fails, Neo & Buttercup, Ivar the mini lop rabbit and Pj, the ever sweet, special needs heading dog!

    Maddie Baker

    Customer Service and Veterinary Nurse Trainee

    Maddie started with Omokoroa Vet Pets ‘seeing practice’ whilst she was training to be a vet nurse in 2024. In doing so, she became a vital helping-hand supporting our team. We can see her potential and with the guidance of our experiences team, she will thrive.

    Outside of work Maddie is studying while listening to music & snuggling & entertaining her spoilt brats Froufy & Mötley Crüe with every cat toy ever invented. She likes to take Froufy out for walks in her stroller as Mötley & Chubbles are still little babies (& Froufy doesn't like to share...). She specifically LOVE Golden Retrievers, Ragdoll cats, mini lops & cute baby animals.
