Referral Services

Omokoroa Pet Vets understand there are times other clinics may be short-staffed, have a lack of specific equipment or skill and are happy to service referral cases that fit our skill set. Dr Nick and Dr Raewyn Sygrove have almost 40 years of combined veterinary experience and may be able to fill the gap before sending your pet out of the Bay of Plenty.

We know that the search for exceptional veterinary care can be daunting, that's why our experienced team is here to support you and your pet.

Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO)

The tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) is a  surgical procedure to treat the common canine problem of a ruptured cruciate ligament. Whilst there are several surgical options, it has been proven the TPLO provides the highest rate of success for return to function.

CT or MRI Scans

Omokoroa Pet Vets is able to provide advanced imaging options within the Bay of Plenty. A specialist report can be obtained within 24 hours of a CT scan or MRI, allowing rapid intervention for critical cases. A CT or MRI is non-invasive and can be very useful when needing to explore extent of cancer spread or when investigating spinal disorders etc.

Advanced Ultrasound

Dr Nick Sygrove is a highly skilled sonologist with experience from training in Australia, China and working in Hong Kong. His ultrasound services include US guided biopsy, US guided thoracocentesis or pericardiocentesis, US guided abdominocentesis, adrenal gland scoring, cardiac ultrasound, heart and renal assessment for breeders, foreign body identification, pregnancy detection with foetal heart scoring and much more.

Complex Soft Tissue Surgery

Omokoroa Pet Vets, whilst only been open for a short time, has already accepted referrals directly from local clinics unable to provide more complex soft tissue surgical cases. These have included a lump removal requiring skin sparing techniques, ZEPPs ear surgery, brachycephalic airway surgery and an exploratory laparotomy for gastrointestinal foreign material.
